‘Touching the Tender Parts’ to be published in the forthcoming A Furious Hope anthology!

My flash fiction called ‘Touching the Tender Parts’ will be published in a forthcoming anthology with the working title of A Furious Hope.

I’m really excited for my work to be included in this anthology of fiction and poetry about hope, which will be edited by Zelda Chappel. We are experiencing dark days, and with each passing day the world seems to be getting a little bit darker; this anthology is an anthology of hope in these hard times.

Though it sounds risqué, ‘Touching the Tender Parts’ is a delicate story of hope in a situation that is all to common. I can’t wait to share it with you when the anthology is published in 2017 (publication date to be confirmed).

‘Full Circle’ Published by And Other Poems!

I’m so thrilled to share with you all my prose poem called ‘Full Circle’, which has now been published by And Other Poems.

As you may know, I mainly write fiction, but I love poetry. I find I write prose poetry more than any other form of poetry (I don’t know why, maybe I find something satisfying about a block of text?), and I enjoy reading the poems And Other Poems publish. It’s a real honour to have a poem featured there, among so many talented poets.

‘Full Circle’ is about growing up and the lessons we learn along the way, but I won’t give it all away! You can read it for yourself by following this link here: ‘Full Circle’.

‘Full Circle’ to be Published by And Other Poems in September!

I can announce, with great excitement, that my prose poem ‘Full Circle’ has been accepted for publication by And Other Poems. It will be published on Tuesday 6th September. I can’t wait to share it with you all! Do check out  And Other Poems as they publish striking poetry, and you’ll definitely recognise a few of the names they’ve published before, such as: Carrie Etter, Tania Hershman, Angela Readman, Jonathan Pinnock, Andrew McMillan, and Hilda Sheehan, to name a few!

‘Lovelorn’ Published in Issue 10 of Unbroken Journal

My prose poem ‘Lovelorn’ has now been published by Unbroken Journal in their tenth issue and is available to read by following this link here: ‘Lovelorn’.

I love this journal so much. You should definitely read the other pieces they publish and consider submitting your own.

I’m the new Flash Fiction Editor of Firefly Magazine!

With great excitement, I am now able to share with you all some wonderful news: I am the new Flash Fiction Editor of Firefly Magazine!

Firefly Magazine is a journal of luminous writing publishing flash fiction, short stories, poetry, and artwork. It’s a magazine I have enjoyed reading and have had my flash featured in before, and I’m hyped to be a part of the editorial team.

So, what are you waiting for? Head over to Firefly Magazine, read previous issues, and send me your flash fiction! We read submissions on a rolling basis and you can send up to three pieces of flash fiction, and each piece can be a maximum of 500 words (there is no lower limit).

Here’s a little bit more about the journal:

Firefly Magazine is an online literary journal of Fiction and Poetry dedicated to showcasing the foremost in luminous writing. What’s luminous writing? Well, anything really. As long as it is capable of taking our breath away, we’ll consider it.

Don’t send me words that keep the world spinning, send me words that make the whole world stop. Send me words that demand to be read, send me words that make me think of nothing else. Take my breath away – I can’t wait to read your best!

Three Upcoming Publications

I’m sure I’m not the only one this happens to: Nothing, and then, everything! I hope to provide a number of blog updates over the next few days and weeks, but for now here’s details about three upcoming publications I’ve had confirmed.

The first will be very soon. My flash fiction, ‘Buffet’, will be published by the brilliant 101 Words. All of their stories are (you guessed it) 101 words in length, and I enjoy reading the diverse range of stories they publish. They’ve previous published my flash fiction, ‘High Street’, which you can read by following this link here. You’ll have to read this one to find out what it’s about – I’ll post again once it’s been published.

The second is another flash fiction called ‘Handball’, which will be published at the end of July by Cafe AphraThis is another great home for flash fiction of all kinds. This story is about football, but something isn’t right – you’ll see…

Finally, my prose poem ‘Lovelorn’ has been accepted for publication by Unbroken Literary Journal. Those of you who have read previous posts of mine will know how much I love this journal, and this will be my eighth prose poem published by Unbroken. It will appear in their July/August issue, and you’re interested in finding out more about prose poetry, you can read my thoughts about it when I was interviewed by the editor, R. L. Black, by following this link here.

A lot to look forward to, and there’s more, I promise you, but for now there’s only so much I can say…

‘Submerged’, ‘Tempestuous’ and ‘Sequester’ Published at Unbroken Journal!

Three of my prose poems have been published together in the latest issue of Unbroken Journal. They are called ‘Submerged’‘Tempestuous’, and ‘Sequester’. You can find the latest issue, the March/April 2016 issue, but following this link here.

I have so much love for this journal. The work they publish is astounding, and the editor, R.L.Black, is incredibly supportive. I encourage everyone to submit their writing to Unbroken.

Plus this month’s cover is stunning!

If you’re interested, you can also read the interview I had with R.L.Black as a part of their Making the Magic series about writing Prose Poetry. You can read it by following this link here.
